IRS Request: Update Your Account Information
You have been informed that the Business Name and/or Tax ID information we have on file for your business does not match with the IRS's records. In order to avoid automatic tax withholdings, please update your account information immediately.
Please make sure you have the following information available:
- Communication ID (included in the email sent to you)
- Legal Tax Filing Name, and
- Tax ID number for your busines
Once you click "Update my information" you will be redirected to a website hosted by our partner, First Data. Their site interacts directly with the IRS's database. There you will be prompted to enter the corrected tax information. Please note that this site is highly secure and that your Communications ID further ensures your privacy and record accuracy.
As you go through the process of updating your information, you will be given the option to receive email and/or phone notifications on the outcome of your validation attempt. We highly recommend that you take advantage of this feature as it will prompt you to go back and try again if your initial attempt was not successful.
Starting on January 1, 2013, any Merchant whose records do not match the IRS may be subject to backup withholdings of up to 28% of daily payment card transactions, which will be held until the next filing year.
If you have multiple MID’s (accounts) you will need to update each one separately. Each of your MID’s has a separate Communications ID and you will need to provide the correct information for each Communications ID.
